Senator Robert F. Kennedy once said that public service was an honorable profession. I believe that, and I am committed to Senator Kennedy's statements.
Thank you - This has been both a humbling and inspiring experience. As your newly elected representative for the 80th Assembly District, I am prepared to be your voice in our State Capitol, and I am committed to working with Governor Schwarzenegger and the members of the California State Legislature to address our many challenges. I am also honored and proud to stand with my fellow Americans in support of President-Elect Barack Obama as he embarks on his new journey to restore our great nation. It is time for California and the nation at large to return to our core principles, to reach again for Dr. King’s “beloved community.”
With all my love, thank you to my wife Gladis, and our two sons, Ruben and Alejandro, for their patience and strength. Without their moral support, our campaign would not have been realized. I thank my parents and my wife's parents who instilled the sense of community into our lives. I also wish to thank my family members and friends who stood with us in the difficult and challenging moments throughout this campaign. I send my warm appreciation to Father Joe Carroll for his wonderful blessing from which I drew my inner spiritual strength.
I wish to express my sincere admiration to Gary Jeandron for all his years of public service, and wish him well as he continues to serve our communities of the Coachella Valley.
I am infinitely grateful to the many thousands of hard working families and to our union brothers and sisters who gave their time and positive efforts to our campaign. Our community support base was vast! This new page could not have been turned without our teamwork. My admiration and appreciation for all the voters who supported my candidacy and to all who supported Mr. Jeandron - I am equally prepared to be your voice in Sacramento as well.
In closing, I thank you for your inspiration and support, and I shall remain faithful to my solemn oath of office as your representative for California’s 80th Assembly District.
